Special Talk - 1950s in Vogue: The Jessica Daves Years, 1952-1962

  • National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History (Collins Barracks) Collins Barracks, Benburb Street Dublin, County Dublin Ireland (map)

The National Museum of Ireland is delighted to welcome author Rebecca C. Tuite for a special talk about American Vogue in the 1950s, under the editorship of Jessica Daves.

This talk is based on Ms Tuite's new, beautifully illustrated publication - 1950s IN VOGUE: The Jessica Daves Years 1952-1962.

The book explores the iconic fashion magazine during this time and the oft-overlooked editor-in-chief Jessica Daves.

Ms Tuite will also discuss the connection to The Way We Wore exhibition at the National Museum of Ireland, and the ways in which Irish designers, such as Sybil Connolly, were embraced by American Vogue.

Rebecca C. Tuite is a fashion historian and writer, and a doctoral candidate at the Bard Graduate Centre. Her previous work includes Seven Sisters Style: The All-American Preppy Look, which was featured in the Wall Street JournalParis Vogue and Vanity Fair.
